Advent is an EP out of New York from The Calendar Years, a little crew of people with a similar agenda to ours – to learn to worship through the seasons of the liturgical year.
There are only four songs on this album, but they are super diverse. Some play like congregational worship and some play like quiet unplugged folk. But the thing they all have in common is that they are real Advent songs, songs about waiting. There is not a Christmas carol in sight. These are original pieces or rewritten hymns and they are perfect for listening to during Advent.
The favourite is the last one, an original track called ‘Hope For Soon’. Incredibly it covers the sweep of history from Jesus’ birth to us waiting for his promised return… but it goes backwards! Recommend track 4!
